Gödöllő – City of the Meeting:
Gödöllő, a charming city located in Pest County, Hungary, is steeped in history and natural beauty. Nestled approximately 30 kilometers (20 miles) northeast of Budapest, it boasts a population of around 35.000 residents. Gödöllő is renowned for its Grassalkovich Palace, a magnificent Baroque castle often compared to the Palace of Versailles. It stands as one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. The palace was built in the early 18th century and later acquired by the crown during the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Today, it hosts exhibitions, cultural events, and serves as a historical and architectural gem.
The city’s strategic location, intersected by major highways and railways, makes it a vital transportation hub. Gödöllő’s rich past, from its mention in 1349 to its present-day vibrancy, continues to captivate visitors and locals alike.
